OUR MISSION

Dear Friends,
On 16th January 2011 we were blessed with the opportunity to celebrate the 300th DEATH ANNIVERSARY OF BLESSED JOSEPH VAZ. Devotees from all over the diocese arrived to join the celebration. An exhibition on the life of the Blessed was organized in the Bl. Joseph Vaz hall, Gangolli. Around thousand devotees visited the exhibition and learnt about the life and zeal of Bl. Josseph Vaz..

I had a dream to do something to in  the name of Blessed Joseph Vaz. I am thankful to my father Mr. Valerian Fernandes, who was popularly known as Vally Master, for sprouting a spring of reverence towards Blessed Joseph Vaz. He inspired me to be proud of Blessed Joseph Vaz because he was of our own brother with our skin, our language and our culture. Apart from that he was the Parish Priest of Gangolli (My Native place)  in the year 1681 to 1684.

In the year 2000 during the celebration of Christa Jayanthi 2000, the dream came in to  reality, and Blessed Joseph Centre was established with a motto to spread the good MESSAGE through audio visual media.
“Jyothi Belagitu Jagadolu” the Kannada passion play of our Lord was the first venture to start with. The play was staged at Gangolli, Pius Nagar and Brahmavara and was well appreciated by the people.
Rev. Fr. Michael Mascarenhas, S.D.B. The then economer of Konkan Provnice encouraged to film the biography of Bl. Joseph Vaz. With his blessing and support the konkanni film on the Blessed “PORZOLLIK NOKETR” was produced and was screened throughout many parishes of Mangalore diocese and there after the C.D of the film was released at Bl. Joseph Vaz Shrine, Mudipu with loving support of the parish priest V.Rev. Fr. Andrew D’Souza.
Encouraged by this media mission, the centre produced a kannada tele film, YESU SWAMY HELIDA SAMATIGALU , the parables told by Jesus Christ along with artists belonging to Hindu, Muslim and Christian religions and it is well appreciated by the people.

The centre has come  out with a special booklet on the life of Blessed Joseph Vaz in Konkani “Amcho Konkni Bhav Juze Vaz”. The book contains rare pictures of the Blessed and the Holy places of Goa, Karnataka and Sri Lanka.

“MUNNI” a short film based on Girl Child Labour was produced by our centre and it was released on YouTube on 14th November 2012. The movie is highly appreciated by the viewers.

During this year of Faith we have organized a quiz competition based on the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and encouraged the people to participate it by going through the book.

This will go on continuing…… because the patron of the centre is Blessed Joseph Vaz. He was never tired. He had no money. He had no power and influence, But he did not look back . He proclaimed the WORD OF GOD and spread the good message among all.

Dear friend, here is an opportunity to share this mission with us in the name of Blessed Joseph Vaz.. Please join your hands with us in the footprints of our patron and encourage us to proceed to serve more in future.

We always look forward for your valuable suggestions and generous support. Be with us and encourage us .

Thanking you with regards and prayers.

Yours sincerely,

Vinod Gangolli.
