"Porzollik Noketr", a movie on the life of the Blessed Joseph Vaz released and screened at Tallur, near here, last evening.

The 75-minute movie, produced and directed by Vinod Fernandes, Gangolli, is based on the biography of Blessed Joseph Vaz, "Through Storm and Tempest" written by Fr. Michael Mascarenhas SDB, the provincial-economer of Goa province of Salesians.

Speaking on the occasion, Fr. Michael pointed out how a large number of Catholics in Goa and Mangalore were still unaware of the life of the Blessed Joseph Vaz.

"There are saints among you," was his message to the audience who had gathered for the premiere screening of the movie at the St. Francis of Assisi Church parish hall in Tallur.

5 Parables were presented in the movie with Indian Cultural background and well appreciated by the people.

Kundapur: 300th Death Anniversary of Blessed Joseph Vaz Observed (16-1-2011)

Blessed Joseph Vaz Centre at Gangolli, near here, observed the tri-centenary death anniversary of their patron during a function held at Immaculate Conception Church, Gangolli, here recently.

Fr A D’Lima presided over the function held at Gangolli parish.

Fr Andrew D’Souza, director, Blessed Joseph Vaz Shrine, Mudipu in Mangalore, Walter Nandalike, managing director and editor-in-chief, Daijiworld Media Private Limited, Jerald Crasto, former president, Gangolli parish council, were the chief guests on the occasion.

Fr Anil Cornelio, convent superior Sr Archana, and Gangolli parish council secretary Helen Rebeiro were present on the dais.

Fr Anil Cornelio inaugurated the exhibition on the life of Blessed Joseph Vaz which was organized by Blessed Joseph Vaz Centre.
Co-ordinator Janet Fernandes welcomed the gathering. Blessed Joseph Vaz Centre director Vinod Gangolli proposed the vote of thanks. Preethi Fernandes compered the programme.

Mangalore: Konkani Book, ‘Amcho Konkani Bhav’ Released

Amcho Konkani Bhav’, a unique book in Konkani on the life of Blessed Noseph Vaz, was released at a function organized at Blessed Joseph Vas Shrine, Mudipu, near here, recently.

The book was unveiled by Fr Gregory D’Souza, director of Blessed Joseph Vas Shrine, in the company of Fr Alphonsus D’Lima, parish priest o Gangolli parish, Fr Rohith D’Costa, assistant parish priest of Mandanthyar parish, and Fr Vinod Lobo, assistant parish priest of Mudipu.

Fr Alponsus D’Lima thanked Vinod Gangolli for writing this book, which he said, will enable people to know about the life and achievements of Blessed Joseph Vaz.
